One of the Mysteries and Frequently Asked Questions in this industry is regarding PromoLibrary services, satellite airplay, and why it is deliberately kept out of the loop of information for the wannabe artist. You know, the one that says/asks/writes - where can I find more information about it? If any of you go to a restaurant or place of business and you hear music that is/may be commercial free OR the business has their commercials/announcements ONLY, it is a good bet that the music is piped in by satellite. Confirmation may be done by asking the manager, generally employees won't know, or check outside yourself for the dish somewhere. So why is this important for the person wanting to break into this industry and a FAQ? First of all, the information about it isn't in the books. You hear the music, but the question those who want to be IN the Music Business should ask is, "How do you get the music there?" NO - It doesn't work like a radio station where wannabes think they can send copies of their CD (which is another story in itself) to because generally they don't know or have a ‘who' to send it to AND it doesn’t work that way anyway. The information isn't in the ‘How-To’ books because by the time the book is printed, the name of the service changed. The timeline for a book generally is about (yes, it could be more) 2 years long. The author takes about a year to write such a book and the publishing company takes about a year to go through the publishing process before THAT BOOK IS AVAILABLE IN THE BOOKSTORES! When PromoLibrary Services first started, it was called Digital Library. Now it is also called Electronic Music Services or EMS. Anyone see a connection between the names of the service that means get your music uploaded to be available for download to be played on some Satellite Channel or Affiliate? Well I don't just by the name. I doubt that any of you do either! Secondly, consider the price tag. If a newbie is in the position to get inside the industry a bit and some Industry Insider tells them that there is a way to get the music around the world relatively quickly to over 7,500 places, ALL new insiders are thrilled with the information for the ‘potential’ for worldwide airplay – as they should! This information is also an ‘Industry Secret’ that they are now in on and the rest of the wannabe population isn’t! And of course, this new insider has signed a contract that contains the non-circumvention, non-disclosure, and indemnity clauses so they can’t talk about this newfound ‘industry secret’. And, here’s the rest of the story – the Majors can put ANY price tag that they want on the service AND THEY DO! I have seen the price tag for Promo Library services as high as $6,000.00 for the EXACT SAME SERVICE VMG offers starting at $450.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have readers of this board who can tell about some of the ridiculous charge-backs Artists can have – such as $11,000 haircuts! So God only knows what the charge-backs could be for the MAINTENANCE of the initial upload!!!!!!!!! REMEMBER VMG IS A GENERAL LICENSER TOO! AND when the name changes for Digital Library, PromoLibrary, or EMS services, etc., The General, Bobby Farrell, is ALWAYS on the inside of this industry to KNOW what the name change will be. He passes down that information to EVERYONE who asks of him the TRUTHS about this industry! None of us can find that information out because none of us are on the
inside of that portion of this industry! None of us have paid
enough of those dues to be there either. Bobby has and for YEARS! And JUST
because we can’t find that information out, doesn’t mean that it
doesn’t exist. What it does mean is to the wannabe artist is this is a
reason they are deliberately kept out of the loop of information, the
price tag is/can be higher if they ever do get in on the inside, AND those
why those getting the services through another company can’t talk about
it. Now you know why the mystery continues for most and now you readers
have another FAQ answered. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Chylon, You forgot to mention that neither Atlantic Satellite nor AVMR Services are promolibraries. Nor do they 'upload to satellite' as the IDIOT ELEMENT constantly perpetuates.
Atlantic Satellite is a CHART! AVMR Services is a company that does about every PR thing in the book, including all the paper shuffling for VMG and other companies. Even so, don't expect the Perpetual Psychopaths to ever get these two points straight. It would upset their IDIOCIES to such a degree ... ! ! ! ! But a good solid article for those who pay attention to what they
read. ------------------ IP: Logged |
